Invisalign braces consist of clear aligner trays, which are custom-made to fit snugly over the teeth. These trays gradually shift the teeth into a straighter position. They can effectively correct overcrowding, large gaps between teeth, overbites, underbites, and help to improve overall jaw alignment. They do all of this without being obvious that the wearer is wearing braces.
Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign braces are virtually invisible and removable. No brackets are bonded to the front surfaces of the teeth, and there are no wires that require periodic tightening. Instead, a series of custom-made aligner trays will be created for you. These aligners are made of a smooth, comfortable plastic material and are designed to gradually shift the teeth into their desired positions. Each set of aligners is worn for approximately two weeks before being replaced with the next set in the series.
The aligners work by applying gentle pressure to the teeth, and guiding them into the proper alignment over time. The pressure is strategically placed to target specific teeth at each stage of the treatment plan. As the teeth gradually move, new aligners are used to continue the progress until the desired results are achieved. You’ll attend regular check-ups to receive each new tray and ensure your teeth are aligning according to your treatment plan.
Your Invisalign braces will be placed by Adam Hewitt or Kerry Gillies; our experienced Invisalign providers, who works closely with our patients to ensure they achieve a beautiful new smile.
On average, Invisalign treatment can range anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. During the initial consultation, our dentists will evaluate your teeth and create a customised treatment plan. You’ll need to wear the aligners for the recommended 20-22 hours a day, in order to hit the estimated deadlines on your treatment plan.
